About Us
The Ultimate Rock started as a personal web page for the site's Webmaster, Jarrod Nix, in 1998.
It was hosted at Angelfire and can still be seen on angelfire.com.
In addition to the personal information included on this web page, a discography and lyrics were included for The Beatles.
Sometime later, other information was added for Aerosmith as well. In time, the personal web page and fan site were separated and
the Aerosmith and Beatles information was moved to a different page, also at Angelfire.
In 2001, the domain name www.theultimaterock.com was purchased and the Aerosmith and
Beatles pages were moved there, along with additional pages for the Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Pink Floyd.
Eventually, the Grateful Dead and Lynyrd Skynyrd pages become too numerous and bulky to manage, and were therefore no longer offered.
Since then, two artist/band polls were used to select additional bands to be added: Ozzy Osbourne and then AC/DC. In 2003, the site
went down for a while as the hosting provider shut down and left town.
In late 2004 and early 2005, a new hosting provider and site redesign began to allow for easier updating and site changes in the future
using PHP. During this time, the AC/DC pages were also added. In 2005, most of the lyrics pages were updated and PHP code implemented.
Again in early 2006, another site redesign began to allow for even easier updating and site changes.
Today, The Ultimate Rock is run solely as a tribute to the bands featured and as a source of information for the visitors who seek it.
